Gas went to 2.29 Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning, then back to 2.19. Otherwise ditto my last.

Gas went to 2.19 yesterday. Getting lots done at work, nothing anywhere else. Toodles!

Sunday February 11, 2007

Gas is at 2.15 in GR, it was at 2.10 at the Holiday in Bemidji yesterday. Not too bad compared to where we were.

Vger has, I think, lost the clutch. It will probably have to wait until summer for rreplacement, if I can find the time to work on it then. Friday night before the coldest weekend of this winter (of course!) the furnace quit running. I tore into it only to discover that the Heat Exchanger was packed full of soot. Started to clean it out and found a couple of cracks in the heat exchanger outlined by the soot. Guess what? Betty and Matt haven't had their regular morning headache since the furnace died.

And, of course, since the house got a bit chilly, the well plumbing froze up, so we were without water all day Sunday, but I got it thawed by Monday evening.

We are currently using a bunch of cheap wallyworld electric heaters to keep warm. Had to rearrange some house wiring to make it work, too much of the house was on just a couple of circuits (the old wiring) while the new circuits were not in the correct locations. Ran a few new outlets on new circuits to handle the load.

Heard on the news a Fire Department spokesman telling people not to use an open flame to thaw the plumbing, they lose a few homes every winter from that. I use a $15 blow dryer from wallyworld. Much less likely to damage the pipes or the walls or anything else, and it thaws things out fairly quickly. Most of the delay we had in getting heat and water was from my discovery that I had nowhere near as much hay on the well as I thought, and I had to scrape it out of the barn and haul it to where I needed it.

Wonder what is next?
